Cooking Classes in Tuscany, Italy with Giulia Scarpaleggia at the Verrocchio Art Centre
Cooking days with Giulia
Giulia is available for cooking classes throughout the summer and a day with Giulia can be arranged as required. She charges €100 Euros for a day's session involving shopping in local organic markets, cooking and preparing a multi course meal and sharing it - either at her home in the country or at the art centre. You will return with quite a few 'doggy bags' as you will cook more than you can eat! Could be a nice addition to a self catering holiday at the centre or perhaps an interesting option for the day off in the middle of an art course.
More about Giulia Scarpaleggia
I’ve been living in the Tuscan countryside since I was born, in the same house where my father was born and my grandmother was born. Tuscany is my daily life and the landscape I see from my bedroom window each morning.

My first and enduring passion is England and other foreign countries . I’ve always loved travelling and discovering new countries and new cultures through their culinary traditions and other people’s experiences. When I am abroad, I am often asked about my country, our typical wine and food, nature and small villages sitting at the top of the hills. I started seeing my home land through the eyes of foreign people and I discovered a view, a new point of view new colours, fresh and primitive emotions, genuine flavours and tantalizing scents. I fell deeply in love with the vision that foreigners have of Tuscany. Each day I discover a new sight, a new traditional dish, brand new sensations, interesting and true people: I live my experience of Tuscany with the enthusiasm of a child.

Giulia is a fantastic teacher who allows you to think with her whilst cooking, would you add rosemary or not, two eggs or 1. She let's you ask questions so you fully understand why you are doing what and when, and she makes things look easy when she patiently explains the recipe. Cooking with Giulia is like preparing a cosy dinner party together, to enjoy with friends and family.

I had the pleasure to cook together with Giulia a couple of times. Her magic lies in the effortless ways of using nature's gifts: nothing is over complicated or too fancy. It's only tasty "soul" food that has been created through her unique dedication towards a lifestyle that she shares with passion. She is a down-to-earth, friendly and open-minded person who loves living in the Tuscan countryside and sharing her traditional Tuscan recipes with the participants of the cooking class. The athmosphere she creats while cooking is magical. I also love surfing on Giulia's food blog reading her stories and looking at her mourthwatering, beautiful photos.
It is a great opportunity to learn Italian (Tuscan) cooking from Giulia!

I couldn't have imagined a more perfect Autumn afternoon in the Tuscan countryside! Juls' private cooking class was absolutely incredible and delicious. My boyfriend and I had so much fun learning new techniques and trying new Tuscan foods. I will remember this experience forever and I already can't wait to plan another afternoon with Juls!

"Cooking in Jul's Kitchen will forever be one of my favorite memories in Italy! The pages from the journal of family recipes she gave us are already stained from cooking the recipes over and over again! Beyond teaching us to make scrumptious Tiramasu and fresh pasta, Giulia went out of her way to make sure we experienced the countryside to the fullest, telling us about the Tuscan culture and even showing us how to ensure authenticity in a bottle of Italian olive oil! She went out of her way to send us timetables too! I am so thankful I let myself indulge in such an opportunity-thank you Giulia for your hospitality and passion for Tuscany!"
