This month has been more like September in weather - wonderfully cool breezes and the occasional thunderstorm. The concert programme has been excellent in both classical and jazz : a knoweledgeable Irishman described one of the jazz concerts as "out of this world". The workshop atmosphere was very stimulating as usual and the final dance - a glorious finale. Thank you all for your kind letters. Nigel

– We had a pretty full workshop and good work was abundant. I was moved to buy one of Bella's - . Her work has changed, is now largely based on landscape. The colour is magnificent, but not naturalistic, somewhere between Turner and Bomberg. I have just placed my most important work in the sculpture park – three graces that I call “A Symphony in Three Movements”

- The Summer season has just ended with a bang, we were overflowing in numbers and talent. See Gallery Link on left. The weather has been ideal. It broke on the last morning with a little rain, otherwise it is still warm. It was a very special course for the sculptors as we made a trip to Carrara and were guided by John Taylor, an English sculptor who has lived there for many years. Though I know the area reasonably well, John manged to make the trip specially interesting with his inside knowledge of the history and the stone. I am planning to get one of my 'Lover' groups enlarged in a beautiful marble. It does not seem all that expensive to do. I will do the final touches myself. Eliza, a first year student at Heatherleys, has been helping me enlarge my "Allelulia Figure". It is coming together very nicely. << back
